A wonderful day at Co-Treetment’s mini-forest | 15th June 2025

Yesterday Darrell Taylor and Simon Evans MBA visited our site, near Thringstone for some maintenance of the field. It is vital to keep on top of any weeds or foliage that might damage the growth of the trees. With the weather recently the grass had grown dramatically so we made that our primary target for our maintenance day.

As you’ve seen in previous posts too many trees are planted and left to fend for themselves, a prime example being to ones we see now almost routinely planted on a new housing estate or by the side of the road as part of the biodiversity planning of local authorities. Look at them a little later on in the year and few, if any have prospered.

We now have 6,500 trees planted at the field, and we wanted to get a snapshot of how they are looking and of course also to check in on the apiary, (5 hives and 3 nucs), to see how the bees are doing.

We can report that all the trees are in great condition, whether planted in 2020 or 2025, they all look great. Some as high as 25ft now! Amazing.

The growth of the trees is to us is like strategy developing before your eyes; you start with an idea; plant a few seeds/whips; follow their progress; nurture them; give them the tools they need to grow; give them time; and bingo 4 years later you have clearly visible, tangible outputs which are as a direct result of your actions!

We love trees!

Of course we also have a duty of care for the trees towards our fabulous customers, many of whom now have over 100 trees planted. These customers are shown below, and we feel proud to have had their support, their passion for doing the right things and to make a difference to our world:-
