As our followers know Co-Treetment are key sponsor for the University of Nottingham (UoNRT) Formula Student race car.
We all know that the electric vehicle revolution has already begun, and the next step in sustainable transport is renewables-based vehicles. Both Co-Treetment and University of Nottingham team members are passionate about developing the skills required to engineer and build a greener future; we started in 2019 with the vision to help via planting and maintaining trees and now bees; whilst for University of Nottingham the future is being determined now via innovation from the young engineers that are working hard and with a new focus on improving on their 2023 race car for IMechE Formula Student
And on 2nd May 2024 Co-Treetment along with other sponsors were invited to join the UoNRT for the unveiling of the 2024 racing car’s entry. We naturally accepted the invitation and met up with the team in Nottingham for what was a fantastic event. Seeing our name on the car was an amazing feeling; a small company that’s a NFP being part of such a fantastic development is heart warming.
The changes to the 2024 car are dramatic, new team members, many first year students, have brought fresh ideas and a renewed vigour to the team. Both Darrell Taylor and I were super impressed seeing the changes and having the chance to catch up with some of the members of the team. Of course at the helm is Surojit Sen who we also had opportunity to catch up with again.
The University of Nottingham have a team of passionate students who work on the race car, always in their spare time, alongside their degrees. They range from 1st year undergraduates to final year PhDs. For each of them the project represents an invaluable experience: a team and skills-building opportunity, with the ultimate reward of seeing their car driving along, powered by the sun.
We are proud to be part of this important journey and to have joined together with a likeminded future focused entity who will help in bringing technology forward that can help all of us.
Good luck to everyone involved in the development of the car; here’s to a great event at Silverstone in July. We hope after reading this more people will join together with us in making a difference.
